Margie Carole Simkins Morrison

Margie Carole Simkins Morrison age 73, of Ocean Springs, Mississippi, passed away on March 7, 2012. Carole was born on April 1, 1938, to Leyla and Langston Simkins of Decatur, Mississipi. She grew up in Decatur and graduated from East Central Community College before moving to the Mississippi Gulf Coast to work at Keesler Air Force Base. Carole married Mr. David Lee Morrison and had three children before graduating from MGCCC as a Registered Nurse in 1970. She practiced nursing and then obtained her bachelors and masters degrees in nursing and began teaching. She taught at the USM and MGCCC campuses for almost thirty years and retired from teaching in 2008. She was preceded in death by her parents and is survived by her husband David, son Douglas Wayne Morrison, daughter Lisa Diane Morrison, son Kevin Edward Morrison and two grandsons, Douglas Lee Morrison and Alexander West Morrison. Carole was active in the community and participated in the Exchange Club, the Coast Ladies Investment Club, a book club and practiced pottery at the Ocean Springs Community Center for approximately 10 years. She was a beloved mother, wife, sister, daughter and friend and will be greatly missed. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the American Cancer Society. Visitation will be on Saturday, March 10, 2012, from 12 noon until 1 pm, with a 1 pm Memorial to her life, all at the Ocean Springs Chapel of Bradford O'Keefe Funeral Home.
