Margie L. Fleming of Mobile, AL (previously Ocean Springs, MS) passed away at age 100 on Friday, August 7, 2026 at Lynwood Nursing Home in Mobile, AL.

She was born on November 21, 1925, in Ardmore, Oklahoma, to Carl and Gladys Hamilton. She worked at and retired from the Gulf Coast Research Lab in Biloxi, MS. She was a member of St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church for many years where she taught Catechism, was in the Altar Society, sang in the choir, and started a Rosary and Bible study class. She was also very active in the community. She belonged to and held offices in the Friendship Civic Club, Gulf Coast Opera Salon and organized the Red Diamonds Red Hat group. She was the surviving spouse of a 20-year Veteran who was in the Vietnam and Korean War.

Margie was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Gladys Hamilton; her husband, Frank N. Fleming, Jr.; her brother, Carl "Fuzzy" Hamilton; and two of her daughters, Diane Cannon and Beverly Lopez.

She is survived by her daughter, Claudia Givens; her son, Michael Fleming; 8 grandchildren, Jennifer Caillavet, Jon Givens, Candace Hinkle, Ryan Poole, Zachary Fleming, Heather Fleming, Tricia McDonald, and Dayton Cannon, and 7 great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, Mom, who was an avid animal lover, would appreciate your support for the Coastal Cat Sanctuary, where her granddaughter, Jennifer Caillavet, lovingly volunteers for the hundreds of lost and abandoned cats. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30am on Tuesday, August 18, 2026 at St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church in Ocean Springs, MS. Friends may visit one hour prior. She will be laid to rest beside her husband at the Biloxi National Cemetery at 1:30pm.
