Mark Sullivan Lloyd

Dec 5, 1951 — Jul 8, 2026

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Mark Sullivan Lloyd, a devoted husband, proud father, beloved grandfather, veteran, and friend, who passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of his family on July 8, 2026.

Mark was born on December 5, 1951, in Kansas City, Missouri. From an early age, he embodied the values that would define his life: service, humility, hard work, and an unwavering commitment to the people he loved.

Mark proudly served his country in the United States Army, spending part of his military service stationed in Germany during the Cold War. He carried great pride in his military service, and the discipline, resilience, and quiet strength he developed during those years remained with him throughout his life.

Following his service, Mark returned home and built a long career with Kansas Gas Service, where he worked as a service technician. He believed in honest work, took pride in providing for his family, and earned the respect of coworkers and friends through his dependability, integrity, and willingness to help others.

On May 27, 1983, Mark married the love of his life, Louise Lloyd, beginning a marriage that would span 43 years. Together they built a life centered around family, friends, faith, and creating a home where everyone was always welcome.

While Mark found joy in many things, including fishing, gardening, and the outdoors, nothing in this world meant more to him than his grandchildren. They were the light of his life and his greatest source of pride.

To his family, Mark was often known as the "Baby Whisperer." He had an extraordinary gift for calming even the fussiest baby, somehow knowing exactly how to hold them so they would settle peacefully in his arms. It became something of a family legend, and countless moments of comfort, laughter, and love began in Grandpa's embrace.

He loved taking his family fishing, creating memories that will live on for generations, and in recent years took tremendous pride in cultivating the beautiful garden surrounding his home in Mississippi or Kansas. Watching both his garden and his family grow brought him immense happiness.

The measure of Mark's life was not found in what he accumulated, but in the family he loved, the lives he touched, and the quiet example he set every day. His greatest legacy was never found in the titles he held or the work he accomplished. It was found in the example he set: to love your family fiercely, work hard without seeking recognition, serve others with humility, and always make time for the people who matter most.

Mark is survived by his beloved wife, Louise; his children, Nicole (Zy), Ashley (Ryan), Sara (Nicholas), and Jonathan (Danielle); and his cherished grandchildren, Caden, Charles, Cooper, Finley, Liam, and Oliver. He also leaves behind extended family members, lifelong friends, and all those fortunate enough to have known his kindness, quiet humor, and generous spirit.

A Celebration of Life will be held in Kansas City at a later date, where family and friends will gather to honor Mark's life, share stories, and celebrate the memories he leaves behind.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, a cause that was deeply meaningful to Mark. After his own battle with cancer, he often said that no child should ever have to endure the experience of facing such a disease. Contributions made in his memory will help bring hope, healing, and lifesaving care to children and families facing that unimaginable journey.

His greatest accomplishment was not what he built with his hands, but the family he built with his heart. His love, his example, and his quiet strength will continue to live on in each of them.

Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Mark Sullivan Lloyd.
