Mark P. McDermott of Biloxi passed away at the home of his mother on the evening of August 15, 2017, a few weeks shy of his 59th birthday. Except for attendance at the American School in Beaumont, Texas where he received his high school diploma, Mark spent his entire life in Biloxi. He spent his childhood days on the Back Bay and later moved to the beach side. He enjoyed working in the casino industry since its arrival on the coast, most recently at Hard Rock Biloxi. Mark played tennis and bowled as a member of several bowling teams at Park Ten Lanes in Diamondhead, Mississippi. He was a dutiful son, brother and uncle. He regularly spent time with his mother helping her with household chores.
Mark is preceded in death by his father, John P. McDermott, Jr. Survivors include his mother, Martha Peresich McDermott Nungesser, brothers, Michael B. McDermott (Cynthia) and Matthew McDermott, sisters, Martha B. McDermott and Cecilia McDermott Mortell (Dick) as well as nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, August 19, 2017 at Nativity B.V.M. Cathedral at noon with visitation commencing at 10:00 o’clock a.m. Interment will follow in Southern Memorial Park. The Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
