Mark Christopher Sansing passed away peacefully on April 6, 2026, in Gulfport, MS surrounded by loved ones. Born on January 18. 1960, Mark led a remarkable life serving our county for 26 years. He graduated from Mississippi State University with a bachelor’s degree in agriculture and later received a master’s degree in management.
He served honorably in the Army Special Forces, achieving the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. During his distinguished military career, he received numerous awards, including four Meritorious Service Medals, The Army Commendation Medal and two Army Achievement Medals for his exceptional contributions to our nation’s defense.
Mark Sansing was a dedicated patriot who served with unwavering courage and commitment. He was deeply respected by his fellow service members, and he will be remembered fondly. Mark was also a dedicated teacher of ROTC and JROTC in Texas who was beloved by his students and fellow teachers.
Mark Christopher Sansing was preceded in death by his dad, William Marvin Sansing; his mom, Euple Ruth Sansing; his brother, Matt Sansing; his nephew, Todd Sansing; his sister-in-law, Shauna Sansing; father-in-law, Lex Scribner; his brother-in-law, Gerald Scribner and his nephew, Drew Scribner.
Mark is survived by his wife, Myra Sansing; his children, Dustin Sansing, (Jessica Lopez), Alexis Sansing (Eric Ysasi), Austin Sansing (Jessica Baker Sansing), and their three children, Lex, Lia and Larson whom he loved dearly; his mother-in-law, Sue Scribner; his sisters, Melinda Riley and Susan Hough (Bill); and his brother-in-law, Billy Sansing along with his two nieces, Brooke and Maggie, and his nephew, Blaine, who will forever cherish his memory.
A graveside service will be held to celebrate Mark’s life at the Biloxi National Cemetery at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, April 10, 2026, with military honors by the US Army.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959.
