Martha Brooks Marion

Martha Brooks Marion, 90, entered the Gates of Heaven on Monday, May 18, 2026. Martha was born on September 14, 1935 to Coyt and Moddie Brooks of the Salem Community in Jackson County, Mississippi. She became an active member of Salem United Methodist Church and later St. Paul Church in Ocean Springs, Mississippi.

Martha graduated from Wade High School and continued her education to later earn a Registered Nurse (RN) degree. Martha married Ronald A. Marion, of Biloxi, MS, in 1958. The couple relocated to New Orleans, where Martha worked at Ochsner Hospital. Later, the couple moved back to Mississippi and made Ocean Springs their home. Martha continued her nursing career at Howard Memorial Hospital, Ocean Springs Hospital, and retired after several years as an LPN Nursing Instructor at the Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College - Jefferson Davis Campus.

In retirement, Martha loved working in her yard, tending to her flowers, especially her snapdragons, and watching the hummingbirds at her feeders. At home, Martha was always accompanied by her favorite dogs, who consistently brought her joy. Most importantly, Martha was a devoted, supportive, and loving Mama, Mamaw, and MamMam to her family.

Her family would like those that knew her that in her 90 years of life she was “wrapping her family in love so deep it will remain with them forever.”

Martha was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald A. Marion; parents, Coyt and Moddie Brooks; sisters, Anna Lene Brooks Wozencraft, Avis Brooks Hinson, and Bobbie Jean Brooks Dykes; brothers, Thomas Coyt Brooks and JD Harold Brooks; brothers-in-law, Calvin D. “CD” Hinson and William Elson “Red” Dykes; sister-in-law, Cora Frances Brooks.

Martha is survived by her children, Ronald Andrew Marion, Jr. (Melissa) and Anna Marion Albritton (David); her grandchildren, Andrew Marion (Kelly), Ashley A. Rodgers (Tyler), Brooks Marion (Cherilyn), and Wesley Albritton (Lindsey); great-grandchildren, Allison Brooke Rodgers, Paul George Marion, Martha Kay Marion, and Robert Jay “Bobby” Marion; sister-in-law, Ruth Brooks, and many nieces and nephews.

The family is especially grateful and thankful to caregiver Patricia Parker for her compassion, dedication, friendship, and love she showed Martha during her later years.

The family would also like to thank the caregivers at Gracepoint Home Care for their hard work and devotion over the last few months.

A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Saturday, May 23, 2026 at St. Paul – OS. Friends are invited to visit one hour prior. Interment will follow at Crestlawn Memorial Park.
