Martha Vance Hopkins Feldman passed away peacefully at her home in Pass Christian, MS on Tuesday December 26, 2023 at the age of 72.
Martha attended Louise S. McGehee School and graduated from Isidore Newman School, graduated Phi Beta Kappa in three years at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill (BS), and received her MBA in quantitative analytics at Seton Hall University, South Orange, NJ.
Following college, Martha served in executive financial roles with several entrepreneurial health care companies in New Jersey and New York, creating 25 plus year business relationships in the industry. After living in Montclair for 33 years, and traveling, when possible, she moved to Pass Christian in 2014 to be near her family and continued working remotely. Both in New Jersey and in the south she treasured her good friends. Aside from working, Martha was an accomplished seamstress, sewing dresses for her niece and great nieces, knitting sweaters and toys, cooking and entertaining, and was an avid reader, participating in book clubs. Never idle, she was always creating something for others to enjoy or learning new things to discuss.
Martha had the Hopkins’ independence in her. She was brave in her choices and lived gratefully with dignity. Martha was a wonderful, vivacious soul who put all at ease when with her. She will be missed every day.
Martha was preceded in death by her mother, Ann Blanche Springer Hopkins and father Stanhope Felix Hopkins, also living in Pass Christian for many years.
She is survived by her loving, admiring husband, Richard Avery Feldman; her close siblings, Stanhope Felix Hopkins, Jr. (Sheryl), Peter Hyde Hopkins (Jean) and Marian Gayle Hopkins Verlander (Kenneth); stepson, Justin Brett Feldman; and stepdaughter Zoe Alexandra Feldman, along with several nephews, a niece and many great nephews and nieces, all of whom she knew well and adored.
