It is with full hearts and deep sadness that we announce the passing of Martin Joseph Sczepaniak who left this world on November 19, 2025, just three and a half months after saying goodbye to the love of his life, Marlene. Though his departure feels far too soon, we find comfort in knowing they are together again.
Almost nothing made Marty happier than shucking oysters. It was his art form, his pastime, his party trick, and his gift to anyone lucky enough to sit at his table. With a knife in one hand and a story in the other, he could turn a bucket of oysters into an evening no one would forget. His stories—sometimes tall, sometimes true, always memorable—would roll out of him like way waves roll to shore, full of humor, wisdom, and the kind of warmth that made strangers feel like old friends.
In these final months, after losing Marlene, he carried his grief with quiet resilience. But those who knew him could see that part of him had gone missing. Now, we take solace knowing that the two of them are reunited.
Marty is preceded in death by his beloved, Theresa Marlene Sczepaniak; his parents, Edith and Martin Sczepaniak; and siblings, Claude Parks, Geneva Parks, Peggy Spaulding, Don Parks, and James Parks.
