Mary Ann “Mimi” DeCore Campbell, age 83, of Gautier, MS passed away peacefully on May 12, 2016.
Mary Ann was born on February 1, 1933 in Cleveland, OH, the eldest daughter of Ralph Joseph DeCore and Ann Marie Simiele DeCore.
She attended St. Stephen High School in Cleveland, OH and studied at John Carroll University.
In 1996, she retired as Comptroller of Michigan Wheels Propellers of Chesapeake, VA and moved back home to Mississippi.
Mary Ann was a proud hooker and a member of the Gulf Coast Rug Hookers Guild. She also served as President of the Business and Professional Women’s Club in Pascagoula, MS.
Her faith in God and her religion was unshakeable and she loved her family, extended family and friends, unconditionally. She lived and loved life to the fullest. She was beautiful and vibrant; when she smiled, her eyes sparkled and would light up a room. Anyone that knew her knew she lived by her own rules. She was a strong and faithful woman, right up to her last breath.
She is preceded in death by her father, Ralph Joseph DeCore; mother, Ann Marie Simiele DeCore; her brother, Ralph Joseph DeCore, Jr.; and her brother-in-law, Clarence H. Parkinson, Jr., all of Cleveland, OH.
She is survived by her daughters, Cathleen Marie Gray (Jeffrey) and Cherie Campbell Salo (John); her son, Robert F. Campbell, Jr. (Linda), all of Gautier; her sisters, Debbie Wiley (Dean) of Vancleave, MS and Gloria Parkinson of Cleveland, OH; her grandchildren, Ann Marie May of Moss Point, Cynthia Lyn Bex (Keith) of Gautier, Melanie Therese Parker (Matt) of Sherwood, AR, William E. Enis, III (Sara) of Sherwood, AR, Megan Rose Campbell and Emma Renee Campbell, both of Gautier; her great-grandchildren, Ashley Parisi, Zachary Parisi and Matthew Dias of Moss Point, Gabriel Bex, Keith Bex, Jr., Chris Bex, and Kyle Bex of Gautier, MS, Mackenzie Ann Parker and Sloane Elizabeth Parker of Sherwood, AR; and her sweet pet, Beau.
A memorial Mass will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Gautier, MS on May 21, 2016. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. and mass will be held at 2:00 p.m.
A memorial Mass will also be held in Cleveland, OH at Our Lady of Mount Carmel on June 8, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Cleveland, OH.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, TN or St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Gautier, MS.
The family would like to thank Dr. Lydia Latour, our mothers Oncologist and Dr. Richard Whitlock, her family doctor for always taking care of her.
We would also like to thank the staff at Deaconess Hospice of Biloxi and especially Mama’s Hospice Nurse, Angela Rogers, from the bottom of our hearts, for taking such good care of Mama and always making her feel special.
