Mary “Grandma” Barker, age 90 of Long Beach passed away Thursday April 27, 2017. She was born in Shubuta, MS and had been a resident of Long Beach since 1957. She was Baptist. Mary retired from Best Western on the beach in Gulfport after over 30 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Johnnie W. Barker; a son, Steve Barker; a grandson, Kenny Jacobs; eight brothers and four sisters.
She is survived by a daughter, Elizabeth “Liz” Evans; a son Ronnie Barker (Tammy McGill) all of Long Beach; three sisters, Annie Callahan, Ethel Jackson, and Nell Gavin all of Quitman; three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
The funeral service is Monday, May 1, 2017 at 12:30 p.m. where friends may visit one hour before the service at Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home, 15th Street, Gulfport. Interment follows at Biloxi National Cemetery.
In lieu of flower arrangements that are limited at the cemetery the family prefers plants.
