Mary Elizabeth "Jean" Holmes

Mary Elizabeth “Jean” Holmes, of Gulfport, MS passed away on Friday, October 23, 2026, in Alexandria, Louisiana.

Jean was born and raised in Marianna, Florida. After marrying her husband, Phil, she moved to the MS Gulf Coast. Jean earned her nursing degree from MGCCC. She retired from the South Mississippi Regional Center in Long Beach, MS. During retirement, Jean volunteered for the Red Cross.

Jean was preceded in death by her husband, James Phillip “Phil” Holmes; parents, JW and Lissie Daniels; siblings, James Daniels, Audrey Beauchamp, Royce (Don) Hardy, Carolyn Daniels, Mary Ann Mears; niece, Kim Leblanc; and nephew, Michael Mears.

Jean is survived by her daughters, Denise (Ron) Baillio and Angie (Stephen) Benigno; grandchildren, SJ Benigno, Emery Benigno, Jessica Morrisette (Drew, Anna, Gauge, Charlotte), Sandra Broadwell (Jeff, Katherine, Joseph), and Amanda Dixon (Auburn, Landon, Ryland, Faith, Isla); and many nieces and nephews.

A private burial will be held on Thursday, November 5, 2026, at Biloxi National Cemetery where she will be laid with her husband.
