Mary Ella "Granny" Cates, 85, of Biloxi, MS died on Thursday, March 3, 2011. Ms Cates was a native and lifelong resident of the Coast and a member of Cedar Lake United Methodist Church. She is preceded in death by her three children, Lunette, Infant daughter and Lyman Cates; three grandsons, Ronald and Milton Cates and Mark Hosli; mother, Dove Cates Hudson; step-father, W.T. Dick Hudson; daughter-in-law, Rose Cates; half sister, Clareis Hudson; two half brothers, William Tucker Hudson and Edwin "Bootsie" Hudson. Ms Cates is survived by her daughter, Margaret Hosli; sons, Franklin "Dee" (Annette) Cates, Eddie (Sue) Cates and Paul "Shorty" Cates; brother, David Jack Cates; four grandchildren, Donald Cates, Mary Lalley, Mike Hosli and George Cates; three great-granddaughters, Remington, Lanna and Alyssa; three half sisters, Pauline Atwell, Martha "Crickett" Pavlov and Jeanette Pavlov; three half brothers, Sam Hudson, Lennis Hudson and Henry "Eggie" Hudson; very special friend, Anna Morgan and speical thanks to Mike Rose. Visitation will be on Friday, March 4, 2011 from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Funeral services will be on Saturday, March 5, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. Friends may visit from 10:00 a.m. until service time. Both will be held at Cedar Lake United Methodist Church. Interment will follow in Cedar Lake UMC Cemetery. Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home, Howard Avenue, Biloxi is in charge of arrangements.
