Mary Huggins Fisher

Mary Huggins Fisher, age 91, died Thursday, May 1, 2014. Mary was born November 19, 1922 in Mineral Wells, MS and spent her childhood in and around Oxford, MS. She graduated from Abbeville High School in 1942 and immediately went to work in the defense industry. The family referred to her as “The Tire Builder” as she worked several years building tires for Firestone Tire Company for military use. She owned and operated three different ladies clothing shops and retired twenty-six years ago as owner and operator of a furniture store on Pass Road in Biloxi. Over the years she was active in many clubs and Mardi Gras festivities. She leaves many friends and good memories of the Gulf Coast area where she spent the later half of her life. She was preceded in death by her parents Charles M. Huggins and Mabel Tidwell Huggins, and a brother Sonny Huggins. She is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Harold and Maurine Huggins; nieces, Lydia Ivanditti and Doria Alecksen; nephew, Fred Huggins all of Eatonton, GA; nieces, Amy Paine of Oakhurst, CA and Olivia Rabenold of Gansevoort, NY.
