Mary Lou Miller, age 80 of Ocean Springs, passed away Thursday, November 9, 2017 at her residence in Ocean Springs. She was born on June 24, 1937 in Mitchell, South Dakota. She graduated from the Presentation School of Nursing, St. Joseph Hospital, South Dakota and was the Public Health Nurse of the Year, State of Mississippi, 1986. She began her nursing career in Labor & Delivery and then spent the majority of her career as a Public Health Nurse for Harrison County. Mary retired as a School Nurse for Biloxi Public Schools in 1999. Mary Lou touched many lives, she was known for her compassion and giving nature. She was proud of her husband’s military service, she was an Air Force wife for 23 years. Mary loved gardening, reading and especially spending time with her grand and great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father, Jack Beautner; mother and stepfather Mary and C.F. Sanders; her beloved husband, John Kermit Miller and sister, Patricia Keenihan.
Survivors include her daughters, Angela Miller of Oslo Norway; Patricia Miller of Omaha Nebraska; Kathy (Mike) Hicks of Ocean Springs; and Julie (Tommy) Stewart of Lakeland, TN; her grandchildren, Marianne and Annette Lunde of Oslo Norway; Jonathan (Molly) Eller of Austin, TX; Aaron Eller of Little Rock, AR; Christopher Hicks of Ocean Springs; Brianna Moore of Lakeland, TN; and Cory Stewart of Lakeland, TN; great grandchildren, Christoffer Johan Kruse of Oslo Norway; Ethan Eller of Austin, TX; Brenden Stewart and Eli Moore of Lakeland, TN.
Services will be held at the Ocean Springs Chapel of Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home on Tuesday, November 14, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. Friends may visit one hour prior. Interment will follow at Biloxi National Cemetery.
