It is with great sorrow the family of Matthew Keith Holliman announces his sudden and unexpected passing from a heart attack at the age of 43 in Biloxi on Monday, December 29, 2025.
Born on June 25, 1982 in Ocean Springs, MS to Eulean “Junior” and Patti Holliman, Matthew from a very young age was curious and always trying to figure out how things worked. He could work/fix anything. He and his good friend Cory would tinker, repair, and build anything.
Matthew grew up in Biloxi, MS. He was in Spokane, WA when he enlisted in the Air Force. After boot camp at Lackland AFB TX and specialized training at Fort Eustis in Newport News, VA, he was stationed at Hurlburt Field, FL where he was a helicopter/tilt rotor maintenance technician. While at Hurlburt Field, Matthew worked on two different helicopters: the MH-53 and the CV-22 Osprey. He deployed twice in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Matthew served his country from June 2005 until January 2013 when he was honorably/medically discharged.
Florida was a good fit for his daughters, Julia and Laney. He took them roller skating, fishing, to Mardi Gras parades, and snorkeling. Matthew was a true outdoorsman. He loved fishing, hunting, camping, and kayak fishing off the coast of Florida with Cory. They made many fishing trips several miles off the Gulf Coast and had many fishing tales to tell backed up with pictures and cam recordings. He loved cooking, grilling and experimenting with new recipes.
Matthew touched many lives in his Air Force family as well as many, many others. He will always be missed and never forgotten.
Survivors include his two daughters, Julia Holliman of San Diego, CA and Laney Holliman of Biloxi; his parents Eulean “Junior” and Patti Holliman; his niece, Payton Holliman; his brother from another mother, Cory York, who is the epitome of a true best friend; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his sister, Amber Holliman; his maternal grandparents Al & Judy Pickard, and paternal grandparents Eulean Sr and Pearlie Mae Holliman.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 10, 2026 at Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home on Howard Avenue in Biloxi. Friends may visit from 10:00 a.m. until service time.
