Lt. Col. Meno Joseph Stallone, Jr., U.S.A.F., Retired was raised up on eagles’ wings, to rest in peace after a purposeful life well lived. He passed away at his home on Tuesday, May 3, 2016 at the age of 85.
Lt. Col. Stallone loved his family, his flying career and the privilege to be of service to his country. He was a servant to others throughout his life with a rich and devout faith in God.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Meno Joseph Stallone, Sr. and Mary Benedittine Stallone; his sisters, Betty Grimes, Ethel Mancuso and Ann Reed; his son, Michael Joseph Stallone; and his daughter, Judith Ann Johnston.
Lt. Col. Stallone is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Freda Sandel Stallone; his children, David (Cheryl) Stallone, Diane (Ed) Dollar, Dolores (Tim) Houseman and Donna (Jesse) Stallone; his son-in-law, Steve Johnston; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In honor of his 26 years as a U.S.A.F. pilot, a brief service will be held Friday, May 13, 2016 at the Biloxi National Cemetery beginning promptly at 1:30pm. A gathering for friends and family will follow the service at the family home.
A Memorial Mass will also be held at St. Mary Basilica in Natchez, MS on Saturday, May 28, 2016. Visitation will begin at 9:00 am, with a mass to follow at 10:00 am. Both services will be held at the church. After which, there will be a graveside ceremony at the Natchez City Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made for Veterans’ Support in Lt. Col. Stallone’s name to the Bridgeland Community Supports Veterans, Inc., 18815 Cove Bend Lane, Cypress, TX 77433. This is a non-profit for which his daughter is a founding member.
