Michael Lloyd Bailey

Michael Lloyd Bailey, age 64, of Gulfport, Mississippi, passed away on Friday, August 14, 2026.

Born in Brandon, Mississippi, Mike and his family lived in Los Angeles and New Orleans before settling in Gulfport in July 1969, just one month before the Mississippi Gulf Coast was devastated by Hurricane Camille. Following damage to their Gulfport home, the family relocated to the North Bel-Aire community of Orange Grove, where Mike grew up and formed many friendships that would last throughout his life.

Mike graduated from Harrison Central High School and attended what is now the Perkinston Campus of Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College (MGCCC) before joining the United States Marine Corps. During his service as a Marine, he served in the First Gulf War. He later enlisted in the United States Army, where he became an electronics specialist. His Army career took him to assignments in Germany, Alaska, and Virginia, and included service in Afghanistan.

Following his military service, Mike continued serving his country as a civilian employee of the U.S. Army. His civil service career took him to positions in Germany, Huntsville, Alabama, and Leesville, Louisiana. After retiring, he returned home to Gulfport.

While serving his country, Mike received many designations, awards , and other recognitions including a Bronze Star Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal , Southwest Asia Service Medal with 3 Bronze Service Stars, Kuwait Liberation Medal (Government of Kuwait), Kuwait Liberation Medal (Kingdom of Saudi Arabia), Noncommissioned Officer’s Professional Development Ribbon, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, Expert Marksmanship Badge, and Driver and Mechanic Badge with Driver-W Bar.

Mike is survived by his beloved wife, Carla Broadus Bailey; his son, Sean (Tara) Bailey of Gulfport; his brothers, Ray (Art) Bailey of Clearwater, Florida, Jason (Misty) Bailey of Joplin, Missouri, and Grady Bailey of Biloxi, Mississippi; his sister, Tammy Bailey of Biloxi; and many nieces and nephews.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Montie and Mauderine Bailey; his daughter, Lauren Nicole Bailey; and his brothers, Charles “Chuck” Bailey, Mitchell “Mitch” Bailey, and Edward “Scott” Bailey.

Services will be scheduled at a later date, with burial to follow at Biloxi National Cemetery.
