Michael "Mickey" Watts Sperry

Michael “Mickey” Watts Sperry, age 79, of Long Beach, passed away on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, in his home that he built for his family 46 years ago.

Mickey was born on December 2, 1946, in Tylertown, MS to Edward and Lou Sperry. He was employed with MS Power Co., Plant Jack Watson, for 20 years prior to being self-employed.

Mickey was an avid reader with a book collection of over 200 books. He was an electrician, a carpenter, a basketball and softball coach, a cook, a gardener, and a dog lover. Roman was his last German Shepard who will miss him terribly. Mickey was the happiest being home with his family and working in his garden, sharing the fruits of his labor with family and friends.

He was the best husband of 59 years and a good father and grandfather. He was the go-to guy when family members or friends needed advice or help.

Life without Mickey will be hard, but we were blessed to have him love us. He always did everything he could to take care of us and make us happy. And he did just that.

Mickey was preceded in death by his parents and his sisters, Patsy Broadus and Lynn Sperry.

Survivors include his wife, JoAnn; brother, Tommy McCain (Cheryl) of Covington, LA; son, Patrick Sperry (Lisa) of Molute, AL; daughter, Ashlie Lenhoff (John) of Gulfport, MS; grandchildren, Tyler Sperry of Hattiesburg, MS and Quinton and Joli Lenhoff of Gulfport, MS; brother-in-law, Derrel Wilson (Sally) of Gulfport, MS; and many nieces and nephews he adored.

No services will be held at this time.
