Michael “Mike” Leroy Jimerson, 61, of Ocean Springs, Mississippi, passed away on April 2, 2026, in the line of duty in St. Martin, Mississippi.
Mike was born on May 12, 1964, in Mobile, Alabama, to Clarence and Ann Jimerson. He was a graduate of St. Martin High School and spent 31 years working for Sparklight. In addition, he faithfully served his community for 16 years with the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department, beginning as a volunteer for four years before becoming a deputy.
Mike was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He shared 42 years of marriage with his high school sweetheart, Sheila Jimerson. He was a proud father to Michael (Stephanie) Jimerson and Paige (Justin) Powell, and a loving “Paw Paw” to his grandchildren, Kaela Jimerson, Jordynn Jimerson, Joey Rocha, and Clayton Powell.
He is survived by his mother, Ann Jimerson; his wife, Sheila Jimerson; his children and grandchildren; his siblings, Missy (Randel) Miller, Mitchell (Karee) Jimerson, and Lisa Jimerson; and his beloved dogs, Daisy Mae and Annabelle. He was preceded in death by his father, Clarence “Junior” Jimerson.
Mike loved spending time on the water boating and traveling with his best friends, making memories with those he loved most.
But more than anything, Mike will be remembered for the way he lived his life- with a servant’s heart, unwavering loyalty, and a deep love for his family and community. He was the kind of man who showed up, no matter the circumstance. He led by example, instilling in his children the values of hard work, compassion, and service to others. His impact is evident not only in his family, but in the countless lives he touched throughout his years of service.
He had a rare ability to make people feel protected, valued, and cared for- both in and out of uniform. To his family, he was a steady presence, a protector, and a source of strength. To his community, he was someone they could depend on.
Mike gave his life doing what he believed in- protecting others. His legacy is one of selflessness, love, and quiet strength, and it will live on through his family and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Visitation will be held on Friday, April 10, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., with services beginning at 1:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Biloxi. A reception will follow at the St. Martin Community Center.
The family would like to thank the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department and the community for the outpouring of love and support during this difficult time.
Mike will be remembered for his dedication to his family, his service to others, and the legacy of love and strength he leaves behind.
