A true original has been called to heaven to be with his father, sister, grandsons, and numerous other loved ones that have been taken too soon.
Michael Adams Mobley Sr. left this world right before his birthday so the family will be celebrating his life on what would have been his 58th birthday.
Dad was a 70’s hippie and a self-educated man. He was street smart and knew how to get his hustle on. He was a mechanic, chef, cashier, repo man and held many other odd jobs to provide for his family. He loved to write poetry, tell stories and jokes and make people laugh. He could sell shoes to a man with no feet. His smile and laughter will be missed by so many.
Self-proclaimed ladies’ man – Dad was married two times: Sharon Burns, mother of Michael Adams Mobley Jr., Marsha Duzan and Rachel Stockman and Frances Kelly, mother of Michelle Mobley and Travis Mobley. Although, he always held a special spot in his heart for the mother of his children and remained close friends with them both, his one and only favorite girl was his mother, Barbara DeMott. The bond these two shared was unbreakable and everlasting, a true example of how people should love each other, unconditionally and without question.
Dad was preceded in death by his father, Welton Bill Mobley. He is survived by his dad, Travis DeMott, a well-respected and loved man who was always dad’s greatest role model.
He is also preceded in death by his sister, Shelia Chambers, who he absolutely cherished. He is survived by his sisters, Cindy Jimenez and Felecia Baum with both he shared a special bond. He will also be missed terribly by his nieces, Barbara Mobley, Christina Kirkland, Stephanie Priest and Ashley Chambers; and his only nephew, Michael Shane Chambers.
He also leaves behind a plethora of grandchildren and great-nieces and nephews, 22 to be exact, for us to share our cherished memories, stories, and photos with. We must keep memory alive – talk about him, laugh, and share his jokes. It’s how he would want it.
To honor dad’s memory, the family asks only 2 things:
1. Show your loved ones that you love them. Call, stop by, or write. Always hug tight and say I love you. You never know what tomorrow brings.
2. Be kind to your fellow human beings. You don’t know a person’s struggle. Smile at a stranger. Remember that bum wasn’t born a bum, he got there somehow. You could be someone’s saving grace with one small act of kindness.
Dad’s wishes were to be cremated and because none of his children want dirt thrown in their face by his ghost, we have decided to honor his wishes. We will be having a celebration of life service at Sea Coast Chapel located at 983 Howard Avenue in Biloxi, MS between 12:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. on July 29, 2016.
Friends are invited. Please wear baby blue instead of black. It was dad’s favorite color.
