.Michael Thomas Edwards of Gulfport, MS passed away on Saturday April 30, 2016, at the age of 65. Mike was born in Superior, Wisconsin, on December 6, 1950. He graduated from Wichita State University where he was active in Delta Upsilon Fraternity, serving as president and being involved in the interfraternity council.
Mike moved back to Gulfport, opening JADE Millwork Custom Cabinet Shop. He was a very active member of St. James Catholic Church, where all three of his children attended elementary school. He was a member of The Knights of Columbus, Home Builders Association, and enjoyed coaching his sons’ recreational baseball teams. He loved playing golf and participated in all of SPIDERS golf tournaments while helping raise money for those in need.
Mike is survived by his mother Bonnie Edwards of Gulfport, MS; his two brothers, Scott Edwards and wife Carol of Franklin, TN, David Edwards and wife Anita of Springfield, VA, and his sister Beth King and her husband Bob Layton of Wichita, KS. He is also survived by Patty Bertucci Edwards of Gulfport, MS, and their three children: daughter Drea Edwards of Madison, MS, and two sons Derrick Edwards and his wife Ally, and Justin Edwards, both of Gulfport, MS. He is also survived by grandchildren Carter Clay, Addi Edwards, and Marley Edwards, all from Gulfport, MS, along with several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers the family is requesting all donations be made to St. James Catholic Church 366 Cowan Road, Gulfport, MS 39507. The visitation will take place at St. James Catholic Church on Thursday, May 5, 2016, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00p.m., with the Mass of Christian Burial immediately following.
