Miriam Alice Strickland Waddell, 93 of Ocean Springs, MS passed away on November 22, 2021. She was born in Mobile, AL in 1928 to the Reverend William and Martha Strickland. She moved to Ocean Springs in January of 1966 as the wife of the late Dr. James H. Waddell. Miriam was part of the creation of the Japhia Temple, Daughters of the Nile in Ocean Springs, and served as an active participant of their work for many decades. She befriended and nurtured so many other people, many of whom knew her as “Crusoe.” She treasured her time at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Ocean Springs, and she celebrated her family who honor her as the keeper of our prayers, love, and joy. She was preceded in death by her husband, James H. Waddell, M.D.; sister, Dorothy Herron; son, Scott Russell Robinson; and daughter, Lee Ann Carter. Miriam is survived by her children, Glenn H. (Lynn) Robinson, Carolyn A, Bohnenstiehl, Jerry W. (Valerie) Robinson, James H. Waddell, Faye W. Gilbert, Michael Carter, and Martha Robinson; grandchildren, Todd (Aliesha) Robinson, Shelley Robinson, Kellie Byrd, Courtney (Mark) Kattengell, Virginia Waddell, Chad (Jennifer) Fazzio, Savannah (Malcolm) McDaniel, Kelsey (Kenneth) Carter, Daniel (Meagan) Robinson, and Ashley Robinson; and great-grandchildren, Charlie, Madeline, Juliette, Eli, Luke, Alexia, Killian, Olivia, Aydin, Carter, Colt, Wyatt, Waylon, Charlotte, and Dawson. In lieu of flowers, the family request contributions be made to Shriner’s Hospital to help them in their work to honor her memory. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 29, 2021 at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, Ocean Springs, MS. Friends may visit one hour prior.
