Biloxi

Nancy Elizabeth Marx, 84, of Biloxi, Mississippi, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 8, 2026.

Born and raised in Brookhaven, MS, Nancy spent her childhood attending First United Methodist Church with her beloved Aunt Bertha. She graduated from Brookhaven High School before moving to the Mississippi Gulf Coast, where she met the love of her life, a young military officer, Richard “Dick” Marx. The two married, built a beautiful life together, and raised four children while living in several places across the United States. They eventually made their home in Long Beach, MS for twenty-five years before moving to Biloxi.

Nancy worked for many years at the Keesler Commissary during the late 1970s and 1980s. She had a natural gift for connecting with people; she truly never met a stranger, and she loved serving the public. She and her husband were proud Charter Members of the Long Beach Yacht Club, where they remained active for many years.

A lifelong animal lover, Nancy adored her dogs and made sure they enjoyed every car ride and every pup cup. Her compassion for animals was one of her defining traits. She was also an enthusiastic University of Alabama football fan; nothing came between her and a Crimson Tide game. She could talk college football for hours and was, without question, the ultimate Alabama super fan. Roll Tide!!

Nancy was preceded in death by her grandparents, Oscar Easterling Adams Sr., Fay Hoskins Adams, Luther Collins Lambert and Emma Fuller Lambert; her father, Zachary Taylor “Bunk” Adams; her Aunt, Bertha Adams Bradford; and many cherished aunts and uncles.

Those left to honor her memory include her devoted husband of 65 years, Richard “Dick” Marx; her children, Richard (Chris) Marx, Brad Marx, Laura (Steve) Stanfill, and Allison (Dennis) Crabtree; and her grandchildren, Morgan Stanfill, Dean Crabtree, Leah Crabtree, and Erin Crabtree. She is also survived by her beloved Corgi, Queen Linux.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, at the Biloxi VA National Cemetery.

In keeping with Nancy’s lifelong love for animals, the family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Tired Dog Rescue Gulfport or your favorite animal rescue organization.

Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home is honored to serve the family and friends of Nancy Elizabeth Marx.
