Nancy Sue (Susie) Vick Michael, 84, passed away peacefully in Gulfport, MS, on May 29, 2026.

Susie lived a full and wonderful life. Her career spanned employment in the banking, construction and utility industries, and she was retired from Mississippi Power Company. She was an avid reader, gardener and bridge player; also a wonderful cook, seamstress, jeweler, and potter. She was especially gifted at crafting and decorating, and beautifully furnished her homes through the years. She leaves behind many family recipes, handmade clothing, handmade jewelry, decorative pieces, and numerous handmade ceramic and clay pottery pieces for her family to cherish.

Susie was preceded in death by her husband, Cleatus W. (Mike) Michael, Jr.; her parents, Byron Bernett Vick, Sr. and Annie Luzelle Luker Vick; her brother Byron Bernett Vick, Jr., and her brother, Steven Kerry Vick.

Susie leaves behind to mourn her passing, her son, Patrick Jay Michael (Susan) of Indialantic, Florida; her daughter, Jennifer Michael Kuhn (Mike), of Pass Christian, MS; grandsons Matthew Joseph Perronne, of Long Beach, MS, Adam Michael Perronne, of Long Beach, MS, and Andrew Scott Michael (Carlos), of Denver, Colorado; granddaughter Caroline Leigh Michael, of Longmont, Colorado; sister, Anne Vick Peterson (Paul), of Gulfport, MS; sister-in-law, Jimmie Lou Gates Vick, of San Antonio, Texas; nephews Byron Scott Vick (Toni), of Victoria, Texas, and Ethan S. Peterson (Susan), of Oxford, MS; nieces, Suzanne Vick Fox, of Magnolia, Texas, Cyndi Vick Diaz (Jerry), of San Antonio, Texas, Stephanie Vick, of San Antonio, Texas, and Rachel P. Niedzwecki (Justin), of Oxford, MS; her great-nieces Haley Peterson, Mackensy Peterson, and Kera Gossett, her cousins, Rebecca (Cathy) McCaleb, of Long Beach, MS and Stanley E. Byrd, Jr., (Lena), of Gulfport, MS, and many other cousins, great-nephews and great-nieces.

Her family was Susie’s whole world, and she was lovingly devoted to her son Jay and daughter-in-law, Susan; her daughter Jennifer and son-in-law Mike; and her four grandchildren; Matthew, Adam, Andrew and Caroline. They were also lovingly devoted to their Mom/Mama and Nana.

The family wishes to acknowledge the excellent care provided to Susie by the doctors and staff at Memorial Hospital at Gulfport, Deaconess Home Care, and Deaconess Hospice of Biloxi; also, a huge note of gratitude to Teresa Miller, of My Elderly Solutions, LLC, for her loving care of Susie and her professionalism during the past two years; and many thanks to A.W. “Bubba” Lang, of Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Homes, for taking care of Susie’s arrangements in such a warm, comforting, and seamless manner.

Susie was born in Irondale, Alabama, on a day of celebration, July 4, 1941. Her family will honor her with a private celebration of life at a later date. She leaves behind a family who loved her dearly. She will forever be missed.
