On Monday eve, July 25, Nathan McCoy Canon’s journey on earth came to an end and heaven’s journey began. Nathan encountered family and friends for thirty-five years and his very best experience was meeting Jesus along the way. We will celebrate and remember his life this coming Thursday, July 28, at Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home on 15th Street at 6:00 with visitation at 5:30.
Nathan was a loving son (Gwendolyn) , grandson (Rosa Lee), a newly-wed husband (Jamie), a devoted father of twins (Ella and Emma), a missionary to the Mississippi Gulf Coast, an artist, a carpenter, a care-giver, a writer, an interior decorator, a nursing assistant, a friend to all, and even managed to deal a few cards at Hollywood Casino along the way.
His life-style was both non-conformist and original. One of his favorite verses was Romans 12:2 “And do not be conformed to this world, …” and so he did not conform!
And now we review the current TEAM NATHAN: Gwendolyn Canon of Pass Christian (mother); Jamie Carr Canon (wife); Gary Anderson (Andy) McWilliams (adopted father); Ella Catherine Canon and Emma McCoy Canon (twin daughters); Rosa Lee McCoy Canon of Batesville (grandmother); Senator “Doc” Bill Canon of Columbus (great uncle); Stephanie Bertin Passaro and Heather Bertin (aunts) and many more cousins here and there.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Jesse Lee Canon and his biological father, Michael Paul Bertin.
Nathan attended St. Stanislaus and completed the CNA program at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College (Jeff Davis Campus).
The family requests instead of flowers that you may give to Mercy House Ministries in Hurley or Handsboro Baptist Church in Gulfport.
