Norma Jean Lamey, age 91, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 24, 2026 in Biloxi, MS. A lifelong resident of the Mississippi Gulf Coast, Norma Jean was a woman of deep faith, steadfast devotion to her family, and quiet service to her community. She attended Sacred Heart Academy, where she graduated in 1954. Following graduation, she began her career with American National Insurance Company, where she worked for 44 years. She was a lifelong parishioner of St. John’s Catholic Church, now Blessed Francis Xavier Seelos Catholic Church in Biloxi.
Norma Jean was instrumental in the longtime success of the Biloxi Doll and Toy Fund, a reflection of her generous spirit. She was also an active member of the St. John’s Altar Society and the Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed all things Christmas (red was her color), Mardi Gras parades, yellow tulips, playing bingo (always making sure the “big man,” O-75, was on one of her cards), and, of course, Elvis Presley. She touched the lives of many and will be remembered for her kindness, faithfulness, and servant’s heart.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Florian and Rachel Eldora (Ladnier) Lamey; her sisters, Anna Mae Taylor and Mary “Theresa” Taylor; her brothers, Kenneth Lamey and Gerald “Jerry” Lamey; her brothers-in-law, Forest Taylor and John Taylor; her sister-in-law, Ramona Lamey; and her nephews, Florian Lamey and Gerard “Rod” Taylor.
Norma Jean is survived by her loving nephews, Terry (Susan) Taylor, Mark Lamey, John Taylor, Tim (Tina) Lamey, and Richard (Theresa) Taylor; her nieces, Lowana (Dave) Ratisher, Theresa Lamey, and Lisa (Brian) Balius; as well as great-nephews, great-nieces, and great-great nephews and nieces.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 2, 2026 at Blessed Seelos Catholic Church, 360 Lameuse Street, Biloxi, MS. A Mass of Christian burial will begin at 11:00 a.m., officiated by Reverend Godfrey Andoh and Reverend Daniel Patino. Interment will follow at Biloxi City Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
The family would like to express their deepest appreciation for the care Norma Jean received from the staff at Greenbriar Nursing Center and from her doctors, Dr. Reza Motakhaveri and Dr. Allison Wall.
Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Norma Jean Lamey.
