Oscar Glen Brewer

Oscar Glen Brewer of Biloxi, MS, age 79, passed away Wednesday, September 9, 2026, in Biloxi, MS.

Oscar was born on December 15, 1946, in Forsyth, Montana to Oscar Elmer Brewer and Nettie Alberta Anderson (Fruge). Oscar was a lifelong learner, he received a Bachelor of Science from the University of Maryland, an A&P license, and 4 associate degrees.

He joined the Navy Reserves in December of 1963, then went active-duty Navy on August 5, 1964, until December 14, 1967, spending almost four years in Vietnam on the USS Haverfield, then he returned to the Navy Reserves until December 16, 1969. He joined the United States Air Force on May 1, 1973, until he retired on December 31, 1993. He received several medals during his tenure in the United States Armed forces including the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, AF Training Ribbon, AF Longevity Service Award with four oak leaf clusters, National Defense Service Medal with one bronze star, NCO Professional Mil Educ Grad Ribbon with one oak leaf cluster, Navy Expert Pistol Medal, AF Overseas Long Tour Ribbon with three oak clusters, AF Overseas Short Tour Ribbon with three oak clusters, Vietnam Service Medal with three bronze stars, AF Good Conduct Medal with five oak clusters, Navy Good Conduct Medal, Naval Unit Commendation, AF Outstanding Unit Award with one oak leaf cluster, Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon with one bronze star, Army Achievement Medal, AF Achievement Medal, AF Commendation Medal with one oak leaf cluster, Joint Service Commendation Medal, and Meritorious Service Medal with one oak leaf cluster.

Oscar had a pig valve replacement for his mitral valve and his great-grandchildren never let him forget it. They constantly oinked around him, they brought him many pig-related items, including a stuffed dancing and singing pig. His grandchildren constantly teased him about his allowance, asking if he got his quarter every week. Oscar loved snacks, especially Oreo cookies. He would sneak them rolled up in his tee shirt so no one could take them. He was funny and loved to joke around. The “I’m not touching you” game was a favorite. He loved to travel all over the world including over 100 countries, all continents, all 50 states including the capitals, 77 cruises, and Volksmarching over 1,000 miles all over Europe.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar Elmer Brewer and Nettie Alberta Anderson (Fruge); and his siblings, one brother, Darrell Brewer, and two sisters, Darlene Musgrove and Shirley Jordan.

Oscar leaves behind his beloved wife with whom he was inseparable, living, loving, and traveling through life together, Cynthia DeDual Brewer; children, beloved son, Trace Brewer and daughter, Cyndy Freeman, adored grandchildren, Christina Davis, Chad Oscar Jacob (CJ), Megan Brewer, Micah Brewer, Madison Haapalainen; treasured great-grandchildren, Audrey Wilson, Averie Davis, Ayden Davis, Carter Haaplainen; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

The viewing for friends and extended family will be from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM with the funeral service starting at 11:30 AM at Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home on Pass Road in Biloxi, MS. Interment will follow at Biloxi National Cemetery.
