Patricia Jean Falany

MSG (Ret) Patricia Jean Falany, age 77, resident of Ocean Springs, MS passed away on Tuesday, April 8, 2026 at her home.

Mrs. Falany, daughter of the late John Charles Burkhardt and Georgette Juliette Germain Burkhardt, was born March 10, 1949, in Bellaire, Ohio. She was retired from the U.S. Army where she served her country honorably for over 22 years. During her distinguished career, she was stationed in Germany, Korea and numerous stateside duty locations. One of her favorite duty assignments was at the Pentagon in Washington, D.C., where she served alongside her sister, Linda, as members of the Women's Army Corps. She was also a Vietnam Era veteran. She was a decorated soldier, receiving numerous medals and ribbons to include the Meritorious Service Medal (1OLC), Army Commendation Medal (1OLC), Army Achievement Medal and Overseas Service Ribbon (3).

During her younger years, both she and her husband were very avid bowlers participating in several leagues in the local area.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Richard A. Burkhardt and William R. Burkhardt; a sister, Elizabeth Ann Burkhardt; and a niece, Lauren Martin.

Mrs. Falany is survived by her daughter, Nicole E. Falany and granddaughter, LeJeaha L. Falany of Ocean Springs, MS; sister, Linda Martin of Lost Creek, WV; three brothers, Daniel Burkhardt of Navarre, FL, Michael Burkhardt and his wife, Sara of Keedysville, MD and John Burkhardt, Jr of Elkton, MD; and several other relatives and friends.

A graveside service will be held at the Biloxi National Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to the Jackson County Animal Shelter, 4400 Audubon Lane, Gautier, MS 39553.
