Patsy Quick Hill

Patsy Hill 1936 – 2015 Patsy Quick Hill, 79, of Gulfport, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by family on November 28, 2015, after battling a lengthy illness. She was born in Collins, MS, on September 25, 1936. Pat retired from the Gulf Coast Mental Health Center in Gulfport. She was a loving mother to her two daughters. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her two grandsons. She was a Christian of the Baptist faith. She was a founding member of the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Mississippi. Pat lived a full and fun-filled life. As an avid Saints’ fan since their first game at Tulane Stadium she was a walking encyclopedia of Saint’s history and trivia. While a Saints’ season ticket holder, she enjoyed riding a charter bus with other “Who Dat” fans from the coast until her health began to fail. Pat loved to laugh, spend time with family and friends, travel, Mardi Gras, the Blessing of the Fleet, lighthouses, children and all types of sports. Football was her favorite but NASCAR was a close second. She read newspapers daily preferring the paper versions to those online. However, she was proud of her Samsung Tablet which allowed her to show off her ability to use the internet, social media, and skyping while a patient in a nursing home for rehabilitation. She was never afraid to speak her mind on an issue. She was patriotic, never failed to vote, tender-hearted, generous, and hysterically funny. She loved her grand dogs: Mikey, Maggie, Banjo, and Tippy and hearing tales of their adventures. Those of us that loved her and were loved by her were truly blessed, as she was a gift to us from God. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends but we are comforted in knowing she is with Jesus pain free, walking, and breathing deeply without the use of oxygen tanks. She most likely entered heaven asking, “Where are my Mississippi and Louisiana people?” and shouting, “Who Dat”. By now, she has taught the other forty-eight states how to second line, properly peel a shrimp or crawfish and located Vince Lombardi, Dale Earnhart, and Ronald Reagan. She was preceded in death by her husband, Freddie Hill; daughter, Cindy Hill Watkins; sisters, Dean Barras, Virl (Joe) Craig, and Jewnett Quick sister-in-laws; Edna (Louis) Beasley, Mamie Hahn, and brother-in-laws, George (Jocelyne) Hill and Bill Spradley. Pat is survived by her daughter, Wanda Allen; son-in-laws, Gary Allen and Martie Watkins; and two beloved grandsons, Zachary Watkins of Dallas, TX and Alex Watkins of Brandon, MS; sister, Joyce Spradley of Gulfport; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held at Bradford O’Keefe Funeral Home, 1726 15th Street, Gulfport, MS, Thursday, December 3, from 5 – 7 PM with a service to begin at 7:00. A graveside committal service will be held Friday, December 4, 10:00 AM, at Gulf Pines Memorial Gardens, Long Beach, MS.
