Paul N. Broussard, born in New Orleans, Louisiana, in 1941, passed away on Friday, June 5, 2026. He went to join the Lord who had been so good to him, as well as his first wife and soulmate, Kathy Margaret Matranga Broussard.
Paul leaves behind his second wife and soulmate, Carol Powell Broussard; his three sons, Paul Broussard Jr., Darin Broussard, and Brent Broussard; his stepson, David Cates; four grandchildren, Brennan, Kathleen, Nicole, and Nicolas Broussard; and one great-grandson, Beckham Broussard.
Paul was one of nine children born to Lautard (Lothard) and Ethel Jacomine Broussard. He was the grandson of Paul and Katie Morel Jacomine and L.J. and Edwina Heintz Broussard. He is survived by his siblings, Kay Aguillard (Cary), Patricia Bayard (Jimmy), Bill Broussard and Chris Broussard. He was preceded in death by his siblings, L.J. “Bubby” Broussard (Marcella), Susan Scarangas and Sally Dupre.
As a young man, he worked as a paperboy, grocery delivery boy and grass cutter. He graduated from St. Aloysius High School in New Orleans in 1959 and attended LSUNO. His first job paid fifty cents an hour working at Audubon Park. Throughout his career, he worked as an aluminum fabricator, a boilermaker at Avondale Shipyard, and spent 18 years with Genuine Parts NAPA in New Orleans. Paul later became an owner and partner of Himel NAPA in Biloxi and nine other Gulf Coast locations with his mentor and partner, Ray Himel of New Iberia, Louisiana and partners Jack and Barbara Hannula of Gulfport, Mississippi.
Paul was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in D’Iberville and the Fleur de Lis French Club in Biloxi. One of Paul's greatest passions was feeding the hungry. He regularly helped provide meals to homeless on the streets and supported organizations that fed millions of hungry children through Cross Catholic Outreach.
Paul’s notes around his office: Even the toughest of days has its bright spots, just do your best!
Paul said "I will always be a fisherman, it's not something I do, it is who I am, where I belong, not a place, but a lifelong journey. My grandfather showed me, and I have shown others, understand this and know me, and we will fish together." Hope to fish with the fishermen the Lord picked; Peter, Andrew, James and John
Paul’s values were God, family, country, friends and work. Above all, he loved his family.
He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
Private services will be held.
