Peggy S. Blanchard

May 30, 1927 — October 8, 2025

Ocean Springs

Peggy S. Blanchard went home to her Lord and Savior on October 8th, 2025. She will be received by her loving family members and friends upon her arrival.

Peggy was born May 30, 1927 at her home near White Plains, MS to Alex and Alice Mouring Scarborough. She married young to her husband, Leamon Parker, who would soon be going overseas to fight in WWII. During this time, Peggy worked as a welder in a naval shipyard in New Orleans, LA until her husband’s return in 1945. They then moved back to Ocean Springs to raise a family and build a life together around their five children; watching them grow into adults with children of their own.

Her family attended St. Paul’s Methodist Church and Camp meetings at Palmer Creek Methodist Campground. Palmer Creek was a special place to her as a child and the tradition was passed on to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Each learned from her example to worship and build their faith. Later in life, she would return to her childhood church at White plains with her late husband, Albert Blanchard.

Peggy was a 60-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star, chapter 49. She served as Grand Electra and was a state ambassador that represented her chapter all over the state. Over the years, her brothers and sisters in the order had become like family. She loved playing cards with her “Thursday Girls”.

Peggy is preceded in death by her husband, Albert Blanchard, sons: Stephen and David Parker, her grandson: Sgt. Lea Mills, parents: Alex and Alice Scarborough, sisters: Mildred Clark and Myrtle Wells, brothers: Cliff, Posey, Terry, Woodrow, and Tom Scarborough.

She leaves behind a son, Tom (Tracy) Parker, two daughters: Ileen DuBose and Delores (Rob) Mills, and an honorary daughter, Betty Shirley. She also leaves behind 6 grandsons: Stephen (Allison) Parker, Chandler (Jen) Parker, Billy (Haven) DuBose, Shawn (Mel) Parker, Marcus (Trish) Parker, and Parker Mills; as well as eight great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and special loving friends: Jerry and Donna Frazier.

Everyone that came to know her knew her love for family and friends, her hospitality, and her devotion to her faith. There was always a welcome at the door of a “Come in this house!” and a tender voice that would pray for you when you needed it.

The family would like to extend a Thank you to Hospice of Light and the wonderful staff at Med-Kare.

A funeral service will be held at 6:30pm on Sunday, October 12, 2025 at Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home, Ocean Springs. Friends may visit from 5:00pm until service time. A graveside service will be held at 9:30am on Monday, October 13, 2025 at White Plains Cemetery.
