Peter "Matthew" Skrmetta

Peter “Matthew” Skrmetta Jr., 59, passed away on Thursday, April 7, 2016 in the presence of his family at his parents’ home in Biloxi. Matt was a lifelong resident of Biloxi and worked in his family’s business Ship Island Excursions for over 30 years. Matt will be remembered as a kind, warm hearted individual that never met a stranger. He was a man of enormous compassion for people. Everyone who knew Matt loved him and will miss him dearly. Matt had a passion for antiques, including rare bottles, swords, and military memorabilia. He had a keen knowledge of military history, and loved visiting Civil war battlefields. He is survived by his parents Jacqueline and Peter M. Skrmetta Sr.; his three brothers Louis, Steven (Michelle), Ken (Crystal); and numerous nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, April 12, 2016 at 2pm at Blessed Francis Seelos Catholic Church on 360 Lameuse Street, with visitation beginning at 12:30pm. The Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Blessed Francis Seelos Catholic Church, P.O.
