Phillip “Phil” Linderborn, 90, passed away peacefully on May 9, 2025, at Bay Cove Assisted Living in Biloxi, Mississippi.
Born on February 20, 1935, Phillip was the son of the late Howard F. Linderborn Sr. and Agnes Linderborn. At the age of 17, he proudly joined the United States Army and served with distinction in the Korean War. He was honorably discharged on April 5, 1960.
After his military service, Phil pursued a long and respected career with the Steamship Trade Association as a member of the International Longshoremen’s Association, Local 333, in Baltimore, Maryland. He retired after 40 years of dedicated service.
A proud veteran and community leader, Phillip was a life member, Vice Commander, and Commander of VFW Post 10078 in Baltimore, Maryland. He enjoyed fishing along the Chesapeake Bay and the Biloxi Back Bay, playing cards with his family, and trying his luck at video poker at local casinos.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 53 years, Anna Marie Linderborn; his parents, Howard F. Linderborn Sr. and Agnes Linderborn; and his siblings, Herman Linderborn, Howard Linderborn Jr., and Agnas Linderborn Lockany. He was also preceded in death by his son-in-law, Charles “Buck” Whittington Jr.
He is survived by his children: Nancy Madkins Burge, Trudie Ann Jones Whittington (Buck, deceased), and Stephen C. Jones (Judy); his grandchildren: Brian Whittington, Buck Whittington Jr., Nicole Sadler, Amanda Jones, Jason Burge, Aaron Whittington, Ashley Donnell, Kevin Kovacevich, and Brian Kovacevich; and his great-grandchildren: Macie Jones, Aaron Whittington Jr., Hope Whittington, Layla Whittington, Raelyn Rogers, Hayden Whittington, Jazell Whittington, Lilly Whittington, Blake Whittington, and Hazel Donnell.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation or the Wounded Warrior Project, organizations dear to Phil’s heart.
The family extends their sincere thanks to the VA Blind Rehabilitation Center, the dedicated staff of Bay Cove Assisted Living for their support and community over the last decade, and Singing River Hospice of Light for their compassionate care in his final days.
