He was born on August 12, 1933 in Cherry Valley, AR and died on January 19, 2024 in Ocean Springs, MS.

Ray was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jo Webb Greenwood; father, W.F. Bill Greenwood; mother, Julia Greenwood; sister, Odessa Willis; brother, Billy Greenwood; and stepson, Gary Chappell.

He is survived by his sister, Jane Young of Cherry Valley, AR; stepdaughter, Linda Bernard of San Diego, CA; and stepson, Eugene Jones of El Cajon, CA.

Ray served over twenty-eight years of active military service. Among his award and decorations were The Legion of Merit, Bronze Star Medal, Army Commendation Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, and The Master EOD Badge (Explosive Ordinance Disposal).

After retirement from the military, he worked for OHM Corp., an Environmental Services Company. He served as Assistant to the VP of Operations and as an Explosive Expert out of their corporate office in Findlay, OH and as Division Manager of the Baton Rouge, LA office until retirement.

He was a graduate of Vonndale High School, Vonndale, AR. He attended Charles County Community College and the University of Maryland through the military.

In his earlier years, he was an avid hunter and fisherman.

A graveside service will be held at 1:30pm on Wednesday, January 24, 2024 at Biloxi National Cemetery.
