Raymond Francis “Chip” Ringwald, Jr. was born on February 27, 1956. At age 68, Ray left this mortal world on October 2, 2024.
He was born in Biloxi, Mississippi at Keesler AFB and grew up living and working in the family business at Cabana Gardens Motel on the Biloxi Beach near DeBuys Road. He was a 1974 graduate of Biloxi High School where he was the Grand Master of the Tau Chapter of Phi Kappa National Fraternity. He later attended the University of South Alabama.
Chip went on to work in the logistics field for offshore oil companies in the Gulf of Mexico and the North Seas. He also worked in New Orleans on the Mississippi Queen Riverboat and at the Commander’s Palace Restaurant before moving to Houston, Texas to work for Petro Brothers. In later years, Chip was employed by FEMA which took him to multiple locations to assist after natural disasters.
When he retired, he moved back home to Biloxi where he succumbed to complications of a stroke and a brain aneurysm. He enjoyed golf, hunting and listening to classic rock, including Led Zepplin and Jimmy Buffett. Chip had a love for the Mississippi Gulf Coast and would be out on the water or near it every chance he had. He cherished time spent with family and friends and was a devoted fan of the Houston Astros and the New Orleans Saints.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Raymond F. Ringwald, Sr. and Hilda Bush Ringwald.
Ray is survived by his daughter, Madeline Mary Lockeby (Jack); his sister, Mary Ann Ringwald Sablich (Scott) his niece, Savanna Duley (Michael); his nephew, Steven Sablich; as well as three great nieces.
