Rebecca Irvin Escude

Rebecca Irvin Escude passed away peacefully on February 13, 2024 at the age of 77 while surrounded by her loved ones. Rebecca was born on February 3, 1947 in Birmingham, Alabama and was a resident of Gulfport, Mississippi. She was the daughter of W.C. and Prudie Irvin.

Rebecca is survived by her daughter, Angela Escude Cavin (Bob) and her two grandchildren, Alex Cavin and Lily Cavin. She will be greatly missed by her only surviving sister, Patricia Irvin Jermyn and sister-in-law, Debra Picou Irvin.

She was predeceased by siblings, James Ottis Irvin (Cynthia), W.C. Irvin, Gerald Andrew Irvin (Debra), Danny Irvin, and Freida Margaret Irvin.

Rebecca was known to her family as the fun Aunt Becky to Brian Irvin, Jennifer Cinquigranno (Christopher), Richard Irvin (Jennifer), Jude Irvin (Sara), Christopher Irvin (Heather), Samantha Irvin, and many great nieces and nephews.

Becky attended Francis T. Nicholls High School in New Orleans, Louisiana. She married her true love, Paul Escude, at the age of 18 years old. When their relationship ended, Becky moved to New Orleans to be close to her mother and sister. She did an amazing job taking care of her sister when she became ill.

Becky dedicated over 30 years of her life to the dental industry as a dental technician. Her favorite job was working with the sweetest patients at Children’s Hospital in New Orleans where she retired.

In retirement, she was busier than ever spending lots of time with her beautiful grandchildren and many family and friends. She loved shopping at thrift stores, going to lunch, and going to the gym with her sister. Family and friends loved talking with her and reveling in her energy and kindness. She was a skilled listener, always willing to lend a helping hand or a shoulder to lean on.

She will be greatly missed by all!!
