Rebecca Louise Trehern

January 23, 1944 — May 5, 2023

Pascagoula

Rebecca Louise Trehern was born January 23, 1944 in Pascagoula, MS. After a lengthy battle with cancer, she passed away peacefully on May 5, 2023. There will be no more tears or sadness or pain as she fellowships with family at the feet of Jesus. She was born with a love and fascination of the medical profession. You might have seen her with a toy stethoscope in her ears and a bottle of candy pills in her hand. Dolls weren't for her unless they were her patients.

Rebecca attended and graduated Pascagoula High School prior to attending Mississippi College. She received her ADN in nursing from Jeff Davis JR. College in 1968. She then obtained her BSN in nursing from Loyola University in New Orleans, LA. She later obtained her Nurse Practitioner degree from the University of Mississippi Medical Center. She obtained the NAAGCOG certification in Neonatal Intensive Care Nursing. One of the things she loved most was weaning her small patients from the ventilator and preparing them to go home with their parents. She spent all her professional life in the Neonatal Unit at Singing River Hospital, Pascagoula, MS. She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church in Pascagoula. Rebecca loved to travel and enjoyed singing in various choral groups.

Rebecca is preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Louise Trehern. She is survived by her brother, Ed (Jan) Trehern of Ocean Springs, MS; her niece, Kimily Trehern of Jackson Hole, Wyoming; her niece, Kourtni Markle of Ocean Springs, MS; and great niece and nephew, Evelyn and Harrison Markle.

Her favorite scriptures were Jeremiah 29:11 "For I know the plans I have for you. Plans to give you hope and a future."

Psalms 139:16 "Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be. How precious to me are your thoughts, God."

As was said in one of her favorite hymns, "Jesus Led Me all the Way," at every point in her life (high and low) God was always by her side.

Gifts in her honor can be made to the Walter and Louise Trehern Scholarship Fund, Box 4005, Clinton, Mississippi 39058. Gifts can also be made by going online to www.md.edu/give

There will be a private gathering for the family at a later date.
