Renee' Lynn Walker

Renee’ Sevel Walker passed peacefully from this life on April 20, 2017 at the age of 53. She is preceded in death by her mother and father. She is survived by her brothers and sisters, Michael D. Sevel (Pam), Thomas T. Sevel (Kathy), Mitchell G. Sevel, Carol Sevel Montefusco (Jerry) and Michelle Sevel Kidd (Jimmy). She is also survived by her companion, Curtis Mark Guthrie. Renee’ will be loved and remembered by all her nieces and nephews, her loving church family at the Nourishing Place and the many friends and strangers she touched with her life. Renee’ was born in Gulfport, Mississippi on July 31, 1963 to Mitchell Sevel, Jr. and Dorothy L. DeRouen. She graduated from Gulfport High School in 1981. She went on to study Marine Biology and graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of South Carolina at Charleston. In her following years in Charleston, she pursued her passion for the sea, spending time on research vessels and aquatic farms. After returning to her home on the Mississippi Gulf Coast, she began her own business, Renee’s Yacht Service, where her love of seagoing vessels shone through every piece of wood her hands touched. A Celebration of Life will be held Monday, April 24, 2017 at 1:00 pm at The Nourishing Place, 630 Tennessee Street, Gulfport, Mississippi.
