Rev. Allen H. Norris

Rev. Allen H. Norris, age 86, went to be with the Lord on August 10, 2016 in Ocean Springs, MS due to complications following a fall and developing pneumonia. Rev. Norris was born on September 24, 1929 in Redhead, FL to his parents, Hansel and Stella Norris. He enlisted in the Army in 1946 and served in Japan after the end of World War 2. He met and married Julia Mae Dykes on March 9, 1949. After being discharged from the army, he went back to Port St. Joe, FL and was called into the ministry in 1957 pastoring his first church in Apalachicola, FL. On March 9, 1967, Rev. Norris came to Biloxi, MS to pastor the First Assembly of God Church. In August 1971, under a tent, on a vacant lot in D’Iberville with a handful of people Full Gospel Tabernacle was founded. We have great memories of Rev. Norris ministering to families we have met over the past years. He was a confidant, counselor, and pastor to many and to our family, he was the ultimate patriarch, grandfather, and great grandfather. Recently when asked what your favorite biblical verse is, his reply was John 3:16, ”For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” Rev. Norris is survived by his wife, Marjorie Ann Norris; his children Jennie Allen (Mack) of Tallahassee, FL; Billy Norris (Sandra) of Purcellville, VA; Judy Gollott (David) and Stella Lawson of Ocean Springs, MS. Survivors also include his step daughter, Cynthia Ann Tanner, his sisters Helen Rogers of Panama City, FL and Juanita Lowery of Oklahoma City, OK as well as 11 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his late wife Julia Norris and Verlon Norris his brother as well as his parents Hansel and Stella Norris. A Homegoing service will take place on Sunday, August 14th at 3:00 p.m. at Full Gospel Tabernacle in D’Iberville. Visitation for all will be from 1:00 p.m. until service time. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Rev. Allen Norris’ life. In lieu of flowers, the family request you to donate to the Feed My Sheep in Ocean Springs. The Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
