Richard Joseph Porterfield

Mr. Richard Joseph Porterfield, age 77, of Ocean Springs, MS., died Sunday, January 23, 2011, in Ocean Springs. Mr. Porterfield was a native of Kansas City, MO., a 1952 graduate of Biloxi High School, and retired from Ingalls. He was a past Rear Commodore at the Biloxi Yacht Club and volunteered with Hospice and the St. Vincent de Paul Society. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jacob M. and Hollis Smith Porterfield and a brother and sister-in-law, Robert and JoAnne Porterfield. Survivors include his wife, Jerry Mills Porterfield, three daughters, Cindy (Lawrence) Hill, Carol (Paul) Vaughn and Suzanne Schenkenberg, a brother, John Porterfield, nine grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. Visitation will be on Wednesday, January 26, 2011, from 11 am until 1 pm, with a 1 pm Mass of Christian Burial, all at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Southern Memorial Park.
