Richard “Rich” Lee Norton, Jr., 57, of Biloxi, MS, lost his 18 month battle to cancer. Born in Rochester, NY on August 7, 1966 to Richard Lee Norton, Sr. and Patricia Ransom, Rich passed away on Thursday, February 1, 2024 in the comfort of his home surrounded by his family.

Rich graduated from Ocean Springs High School in 1984. He attended Gulf Coast Community College, Hinds County Community College from 1989 – 1991 where he earned his Associates Degree and USM in 1992. Rich served in the U.S. Army from 1985 – 1988, receiving an Honorable Discharge. He was employed for many years in the Casino Industry as well as with the USPS in Waveland/Bay St. Louis as a city carrier and a Union Representative.

Rich was an avid music concert go-er and an avid Saints fan. He especially enjoyed spending time with his son and family.

He was preceded in death by his father, Richard L. Norton, Sr.; his infant son, Alexander Michael; his maternal grandparents, Alexander Atsenanaieton Ransom and Margaret Tekawennake Lazore Ransom; and his paternal grandparents, Charles Norton and Viola Carnes Norton.

Rich is survived by his wife of 30 years, Barbara Marie Clayton Norton; his son, Andrew Thomas Norton; his mother, Patricia A. Ransom of Akwesasne, NY; his brother, James S. Norton of Biloxi; his in-laws, Thomas and Laverne Stokes Clayton of D’Iberville, MS; his loving dog, Mishka; his best friend, Billy Kuhn; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in honor of Richard Norton to Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home on Howard Avenue in Biloxi.

The family wishes to extend a special thanks to 
Deanna Coody, RN, Gulfport Memorial Oncology – 4th floor, Dr. Olivia Hightower and Gentiva Hospice. 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in D’Iberville on Thursday, February 8, 2024 at 12:00 pm. Friends may visit from 10:00 am until Mass time. Interment with military honors will follow at Biloxi National Cemetery.
