Richard Leroy Samson

Richard Leroy Samson, 85, of Biloxi, Mississippi, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 19, 2026, in Biloxi.

Born on June 19, 1940, in Beloit, Wisconsin, Richard lived a life defined by steady dedication, quiet strength, and deep commitment to his family. He served his country honorably in the United States Air Force from January 3, 1966, to January 7, 1970, attaining the rank of Sergeant.

Following his military service, Richard built a long and respected career as an electrician, working with Lamey Electric and later at Memorial Hospital in Gulfport. He was known for his reliability, strong work ethic, and technical skill. An early adopter of computer technology, Richard embraced innovation with curiosity and practicality, always eager to understand how things worked.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Ingrid Samson. Married on April 23, 1972, Richard was a dedicated husband for more than 50 years to the love of his life. Their marriage was a lasting partnership built on mutual respect and devotion until her passing in January 2023. Richard was a kind and calm presence and found joy in simple pleasures, including gardening, staying active, and following professional football. Above all, he took great pride in his role as a husband, stepfather, and grandfather.

Richard is survived by his sister, Phyllis Agate and her daughter Terri Agate; his stepchildren, Barney H. Bailey (Susan), Marian V. Sherry, Susan L. Bailey, and Kevin R. Bailey (Teresa); and his grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Christina Woodlief (Nathan), with children Harrison and Lawson; Eric Sherry; Chad Bailey (Kelly), with children Killian and Kip; Kristen Keller (Crosby), with children Isabella and Christian; and Matthew Bailey.

A graveside service with honors rendered by the United States Air Force will be held on Friday, May 1, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Biloxi National Cemetery.
