Robert "Bob" L. Marcy, Sr., a proud veteran, dedicated family man, and lifelong resident of the Mississippi Gulf Coast, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 7, 2026 at the age of 81. While he was born in San Francisco, California, he was a lifelong resident of the Mississippi Gulf Coast.
A true American, Bob answered the call of duty during the Vietnam War, serving honorably as a Captain in the U.S. Army. He was awarded the Bronze Star for his bravery in combat and the Purple Heart after being wounded in the line of duty. A quiet humility regarding his service was a testament to his character.
Following military service, Bob returned home to Mississippi and established a 37-year career as a program manager at Ingalls Shipbuilding. While he had many military and professional accomplishments, Bob’s greatest legacy was his capacity to love and care for his family. He was a devoted and loyal husband to his beloved wife of more than 50 years, Ramsay Shoemaker Marcy. In her later years, Bob was her devoted primary caregiver, providing profound love and comfort until her passing in 2019. His family takes immense comfort in knowing that Bob and Ramsay are now peacefully reunited.
Bob was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Ramsay; his parents, Roy B. Marcy, Lt. Col., USAF, Retired, and Mary Marcy; and his dear sister, Valerie (Val) Marcy.
His legacy will be proudly carried forward by his surviving family: his son, Robert L. Marcy, Jr., MSgt, USAF, Retired; his brother, Dr. Ronald Marcy (Debra); his cherished grandchildren, SSgt Andrew Kestner, USAF (Lily) and Sydney Kestner Ladewig (Colten); his great-grandchildren Parker Meares, Scarlett Ladewig and Evelynn Ladewig; and many nieces, nephews and extended family.
Family and friends are invited to a visitation on Friday, June 12 beginning at 1:00 p.m. followed by a Celebration of Life at 2:00 p.m. at Bradford-O-Keefe Funeral Home, 675 Howard Ave., Biloxi, MS. Bob will be laid to rest with military honors, alongside his wife, at Ramsay Cemetery, on Wire Road in north Jackson County.
The family welcomes flowers or in lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Bob's honor be made to a veteran support organization of your choice, such as the Wounded Warrior Project or local Mississippi veteran services.
