Robert “Bob” Joseph Neale, of Long Beach, MS, passed away Friday, August 11, 2023, at the age of 73.
He was born February 28, 1950, in Evansville, IN, to John and Juanita Neale. After high school Bob joined the United Stated Navy and retired from the Seabees as Senior Chief Petty Officer E8. After serving his country for 24 years he graduated from Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College and the University of Southern Mississippi with a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education. Bob enjoyed teaching and took every opportunity to do so. He decided years ago to donate his remains to the USA Medical School to help medical students learn to be doctors. Bob also enjoyed pickleball, wood working, tractor work, spending time with family, he loved his country and everyone he met. He will be missed by all who knew him. May God have mercy on Bob’s soul and grant him eternal salvation.
He is preceded in death by his parents, first wife, D’Etta Jackson Neale and his brother, Daniel Neale.
Bob is survived by his wife, Heather Neale; children Maranda Nybo (David), Malissa Ellis (John); grandchildren, Jacques Gaffin, Jase Neale, Jourdan Gaffin, Gerald “Jerry” Nybo, Jaxon Nybo; brother, John Neale, Jr.; sisters, Betty Counts (Don), Dotty Baumeyer (Mickey), Catie Fitzgerald, Sandra Brown (Richard); and his fur baby, Coeli.
A prayer service was held for Bob in his home on Friday, August 11, 2023. It was attended by his wife, daughters and close friends. A celebration of life was hosted on Sunday, August 13, 2023, by his daughters and was attended by family and friends. A bonfire to celebrate Bob’s life will be held Friday, October 6, 2023, at his daughter, Maranda’s house, 10381 Old Sidney Road, Pass Christian, all are welcome. A public memorial service will be held at a later date.
