Lt. Col. Robert N. Bowers, USAF Retired, was freed of his earthy binds on Christmas, 2016.
He led an exceptional life born of Pentecostal pastors, Ivan and Ethel Bowers in Bowling Green, VA. Upon graduating from high school in Brooklyn, NY, he proudly entered the service as an Airman in the U.S. Air Force and retired 24 years later as a Lt. Colonel. During his service, he completed two tours in the Vietnam War and was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross and Bronze Star with clusters. For pleasure, he played multiple musical instruments, cruised on his Gold Wing motorcycle and flew small aircraft. In his later years, he even transported for the Mississippi Organ Recovery Agency. He was a longstanding elder in the First Presbyterian Church of Ocean Springs.
Survivors include his loving wife, Mabelle S. Bowers, daughter, Rosalie B. (Edmund C.) Senteno, grandchildren, Sgt. Carl (Laura) Senteno, Capt. Dominic Senteno and Capt. Lara (Capt. Danny) Stack, great-grandchildren, Amelia and Aric Senteno and sisters, Joyce Parker, Joanne Marshall and Janet Olsen.
The family will gather with friends and acquaintances on Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at 10 am in the Sanctuary of the First Presbyterian Church of Ocean Springs
.
In lieu of flowers the family prefers donations be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Ocean Springs Memorial Fund.
The Ocean Springs Chapel of Bradford O'Keefe Funeral Home is in charge of arangements.
