Robert Benjamin Immel, affectionately known as “Rob,” passed away on Thursday, August 6, 2026, at the age of 51.
Born on February 13, 1975, in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, Rob was the beloved son of Suzanne L. Harman and L. James Immel. He was a devoted brother to Rebecca L. Immel, James W. Immel, and Douglas M. Immel. Rob spent his childhood in Pennsylvania, where he attended the Octorara Area School District, before making his home in Biloxi, Mississippi.
Rob dedicated more than 20 years of his life to serving the citizens of Harrison County, Mississippi, through his distinguished career with the Harrison County Sheriff’s Office and Harrison County Adult Detention Center where he was voted officer of the year for 2017-18. Throughout his career, he served in numerous capacities, including Patrol Officer, K-9 Handler, Sergeant, and Investigator. His commitment to excellence extended beyond his daily duties as he also served as an instructor, was a member of the SERT team, and participated on the emergency response team that traveled to assist communities in other states impacted by severe weather and natural disasters. Rob’s unwavering dedication, leadership, and willingness to serve earned him the respect and admiration of his colleagues and all who had the privilege of working alongside him.
Outside of his law enforcement career, Rob possessed remarkable carpentry skills and was always eager to lend a helping hand to friends, family, and neighbors with their projects. He found great joy in building, repairing, and creating things with his hands. In addition to his Harley, one of his greatest passions was cooking. Rob was well known for preparing delicious meals and generously cooking for large gatherings at Harrison County Sheriff’s Office sporting events, holiday celebrations, and community functions. Bringing people together around good food was one of the many ways he expressed his kindness and generosity.
Rob will be remembered for his servant’s heart, his dedication to public service, his willingness to help anyone in need, and the friendships he built throughout his life. His legacy of compassion, hard work, and selfless service will continue to inspire those who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his parents, Suzanne L. Harman and L. James Immel; his sister, Rebecca L. Immel; and his brothers, James W. Immel and Douglas M. Immel, along with many extended family members, friends, and colleagues who will deeply miss him.
Rob’s memory will forever live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
