Robert William “Billy” Baronich passed away on Monday, June 16, 2025, at home, surrounded by his wife and children after a 15-month war with Pancreatic Cancer.
Billy was born in Biloxi, MS, and is the oldest of two sons from Bobby and Jerry Kay Baronich.
After graduating from high school, Billy enlisted in the U.S. Army where he served his country for 8 years as a heavy track vehicle mechanic, including service time in Germany. Shortly after high school, he married his high school sweetheart, and they had two children together. After the Army, he enjoyed several careers, of them his favorites being a limousine driver, and a caseworker for Congressman Gene Taylor. He married the love of his life 21 years ago and together they had a son.
Billy lived in Biloxi for the entirety of his life, apart from his years in service. His loves were playing basketball, baseball, coaching youth sports, fishing, his family, being a Pawpaw, supporting law enforcement, veterans, and military, rock music and being a Larry Bird super fan. Billy, much like his mother, had an unrelenting sense of humor, full of jokes and sarcasm. He was fiercely competitive. His smile and laugh were infectious, and his 6’4” tall frame gave the biggest warm hugs. His loss creates a vacuum that only laughing together and loving each other deeply can fill.
Billy is preceded in death by his parents, Robert Walter “Bobby” and Germaine Kay “Jerry Kay” Baronich.
He is survived by his wife, Lindsey Baronich; his children, D. Jordan Baronich (Kelci Grimes) of Walker, LA, Jessica Baronich Grant (JD) of Denham Springs, LA, and Parker Baronich, of Biloxi, MS; his grandson, Jude; his dearest childhood best friends and “brothers from another mother”, Anthony “Pete” Schexnayder and Scotty Jurich; and his brother, Mike Baronich.
A celebration of life will be held at Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home, Howard Avenue in Biloxi on Tuesday, July 8, 2025 at 12:30 pm. Friends may visit from 11:00 am until service time. A graveside service with military honors will follow at Biloxi National Cemetery at 1:30 pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the St Martin Youth Baseball league in Ocean Springs, MS, where Billy coached for many years at www.smyouthbaseball.com or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at https://www.stjude.org/donate
