Rose Ann Periatt (81), our mother’s lifelong desire was to emulate Carl Fredricksen’s life (Up2009). She felt her childhood and early adulthood were filled with too many moves. After graduating from Waite High School in Toledo, OH, she thought she was starting a Rom Com when she met the love of her life, James. Jim’s decision to join the Air Force meant she needed a new set of luggage.
Throughout our father’s, James Raymond Periatt (deceased 2007) military career, our mom, Rose Ann Periatt (81), would follow him when he was transferred to a new base. On Thursday, November 27, 2025, Mom began her journey to follow Dad to their final resting place, the Biloxi National Cemetery. For her, this completes her journey that began in Atlantic City, NJ, on March26, 1944, when John Jung Sr. and Myrtle Katie Romer welcomed their firstborn. Soon followed by her surviving brothers, John and Harry Jung, and sister, Mary Monhollen.
It was during their travels that her children, Jeff, Toledo, OH, Barry, Tucson, AZ, and Jason, Anchorage, AK, added to her mobile family. Later several her grandchildren, Sammie Burchette, Brandi, Jake, and Eli Periatt, and her great-grandchildren Bradly, Bryli, Elizabeth, Ezekiel, and Theodore, completed her team. This team stands ready to take up luggage should her travel journal require additional pages.
Rose was more than a spouse; she had a successful 30-year Civil Service career. Her career often put her in positions reviewing the status quo, proclaiming, "That is not how we did this in the past,” was a virtue. She would say things like SOPs allow people to do their jobs, like bus routes. Mom enjoyed any game that used her extensive vocabulary. She participated in book clubs and Beta Sigma Phi, joining in 1985.
While we thought Mom might be planning this trip, her ability to live in the moment made her departure difficult to predict. Therefore, her brothers and sister, her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and her sorority sisters ask you to join them in a celebration of her life.
