Roy Edward Rush, Sr.

Mr. Roy Edward Rush, 78, of D'Iberville, MS, passed away peacefully Friday, February 4, 2011. Roy was born August 28, 1932 to the late Ralph and Lillian Waldrop Rush in Biloxi. where he remained a lifelong resident. He served his country in the U. S. Army four years and his communtiy as owner and operator of Roy's TV in D'Iberville over 40 years. In addition to his parents, Roy was preceded in death by four brothers, Ralph, Jr., Elbert, Donald and Ricky, and a sister, Marie. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Barbara Vlasic, as well as his three daughters, Darlene (James) Ealy, Cindy (Mike) Toothman, and Rachel (Scott) Walker; six sons, Roy (Deborah) Jr., Nathan (Brenda), David (Theresa), Keith (Linda) and James (Tracy) Rush, and Tom (Michele) Vlasic; thirty five grandchildren and forty two great grandchildren. The family thanks the Biloxi VA Medical Center, Gulfport Memorial Hospital ICU, Select Specialty, and Sunplex Rehabilitation Center for the Care given to Roy. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Jackson County Literacy Council, 1713 Kenneth Ave., Pascagoula, MS 39567. Relatives and friends will be received Wednesday, February 9, 2011, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. for a visitation at Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home, 675 Howard Avenue, in Biloxi. Graveside services will follow at 1:30 p.m. at Biloxi National Cemetery.
