Rudolph F. Polzer, 94, passed away quietly in the hospital on May 19 after a brief illness with family by his side.
He is survived by his four children Matthew, Stephen, Linda (Whitman), and Susan (Doss), 6 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren.
He served in the U.S. Army for 20 years while being awarded the Bronze Star in Vietnam, and retired as a Master Sergeant in 1971. Subsequent to his service he was the proprietor of the West Townsend Market for several years and then worked for the U.S. Post Office in Townsend, MA for 15 years until officially retiring in 1991. While in Townsend, he also served as Townsend Water Commissioner, operated Rudy's Fix-it Shop and was active in the Boy Scouts.
A private service is planned at Biloxi National Cemetery, Biloxi, MS.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society, 415 Security Square, Gulfport, MS 39507 in memory of his wife Vera E. Polzer.
